Hibiscus Iced Tea Lime (Printable)

A vibrant, tangy hibiscus drink with lime, perfect for cooling and refreshing moments.

# What You'll Need:

→ Tea Base

01 - 4 cups water
02 - ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers (flor de jamaica)

→ Sweetener

03 - ⅓ cup granulated sugar, or to taste
04 - 2 tbsp honey or agave syrup (optional)

→ Finishing & Garnish

05 - 3 cups cold water
06 - 2 limes, juiced (about ¼ cup juice)
07 - Lime slices, for garnish
08 - Fresh mint leaves, for garnish
09 - Ice cubes

# How-To Steps:

01 - Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in dried hibiscus flowers. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes to extract full flavor and vibrant color.
02 - Pour the steeped tea through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, discarding the hibiscus solids. While the tea remains warm, stir in granulated sugar until completely dissolved. Add honey or agave syrup if desired.
03 - Mix in fresh lime juice and 3 cups of cold water. Stir thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and beverage to reach optimal serving temperature.
04 - Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour chilled hibiscus tea over. Garnish each glass with fresh lime slices and mint leaves. Serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The color alone makes people think you spent hours on it when really it's mostly hands-off time
  • That perfect sweet-tart balance wakes up your palate better than plain water ever could
02 -
  • Once I tried steeping the flowers for 30 minutes thinking more would be better, and the tea turned unpleasantly bitter
  • Adding lime juice while the tea's still hot can make it taste strangely cooked, so always wait until you've added the cold water
03 -
  • If you can only find hibiscus tea bags, use about 4-5 of them instead of the loose flowers
  • The tea naturally stains everything it touches, so maybe don't use your favorite white serving cloth
