01 - Combine the diced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5-7 minutes until the strawberries break down and release their juices, creating a thick syrup consistency. Use a fork or potato masher to lightly mash the softened berries. Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool completely to room temperature.
02 - Distribute the cooled strawberry sauce evenly between two tall glasses, spreading it along the bottom to create the foundation for the layered drink.
03 - Place several slices of fresh strawberries against the inside of each glass. This adds both visual appeal and bursts of fresh fruit texture when drinking.
04 - Slowly pour the cold milk over the strawberry sauce in each glass. Pouring gently helps maintain the distinct layers and creates the signature cafe-style presentation. Add ice cubes if desired for extra chill.
05 - Present the drinks immediately with a long spoon. Encourage stirring gently just before drinking to create the beautiful swirling pink pattern as the strawberry sauce blends with the milk.
